PET at BATCH:  Start date changed to suit those parents with school children

Yes it's on again! The Parent Effectiveness Training course will be run at the Bulleen and Templestowe Community House, now starting on Monday the 16th of February, from 9.30am to 12.30pm. This is an eight-session course to help you develop the sort of relationships in your family that will lead to less conflict and more understanding. Parentline ACT is holding some funded P.E.T. refresher courses for participants who have completed a P.E.T. course.  They run for three hours, and three courses are being offered before Christmas - 20/11; 27/11 and 4/12.  Cost is $10.  Please contact Parentline on 02 6287 3833 for further information.

ParentLine ACT is offering two P.E.T. courses beginning in October.  The first is a general course for parents or carers, and will run in Dickson, beginning Tuesday nights, 16 October 2007.  The second course is for Grandparents, and will run in Woden, beginning Wednesday mornings, 17 October 2007.  The cost is on a sliding scale depending on income.  Please phone ParentLine on 02 6287 3833.

The Course Timetale for Qld has just been updated to show courses starting in October.  Please check it out if you are in Queensland.

Wooloowin Community Centre Inc. in Brisbane was able to obtain some funding from Relationships Australia to run a "Parent Effectiveness Training Course for Dads".  This program commenced on Tuesday evening, 13th June with 16 dads attending.

The facilitator is Laurie O'Brien, himself a dad of 4 children under 10, so he has 'hands on' experience of the issues which can arise in raising a family in today's climate.  The program will run for 8 weeks.

We are grateful to Relationships Australia for providing this opportunity.

In a recent trip to visit the USA, Cate Crombie, the CEO of the Effectiveness Training Institute of Australia Ltd (ETIA Ltd) visited Gordon Training International (GTI) the home of Effectiveness Training Courses and materials.

Cate met with Linda Adams, the President of GTI and staff. She reports having been delighted to see the latest devleopments in training courses and new workbooks. "It was great to see Effectiveness Training Courses that are time-tested now for over 40 years are still current and evolving." said Cate.

NEWS FLASH: Linda Adams, President of Gordon Training International and author of the Effectiveness Training "Be Your Best" text visited Brisbane, Queensland to attend an Effectiveness Training Instructor Conference.

The exciting news is that Effectiveness Training courses are now being translated and and offered in Turkey.
