NEW BLOG! In this article, I question the acceptance of adults ‘setting limits’ on children’s behaviour. “‘Setting a limit’ is something an adult does TO a child, rather than WITH the child, and is a term reserved for adult/child relationships only. When we ‘set limits’ we force change on our child and what they are doing; or can do; or will do. And then get surprised when our children resist the change we impose!
This is a long read, but there are alternatives at the end of the article, and a couple of real-life examples.
