Getting in touch with our feelings and sharing “I-Messages” is our excellent ET skill for communicating and improving our chances of being heard. However, there are times when maybe it doesn’t seem to work so well. If we find ourselves making statements like “I feel left out, ignored, disrespected, unappreciated” they are in fact making an interpretation about the other person’s actions and intent. However, the judgment about them (or myself, if this is a self-judgment) may not be true.
Thinking that these judgemental thoughts are feelings sets us up for struggle. At the 17 July 2021 professional development session, Cate Crombie took us through the concept of ‘Feelings vs Thoughts’ and what we can do more effectively.

Cate is a very experienced instructor of over 40 years and brought a wealth of experience and knowledge to this workshop.
Cate received very positive feedback for her workshop and requests were made for her power point and useful handouts on understanding feelings and needs. Please see below.
Cate also spoke about the neuroscience update on Maslow’s Hierarchy. Please find below Matthew Lieberman YouTube Ted Talk: The social brain and its superpowers: Matthew Lieberman, Ph.D. at TEDxStLouis.
