Overview

First developed in 1962 by Nobel Peace Prize Nominee Dr. Thomas Gordon, Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) is a respectful communication and conflict resolution skills program. This timeless classic course is based on a philosophy of respect for everyone’s feelings and needs in a family.

* Support children to manage big feelings, express their needs and solve problems

* For caregivers of children & young people
* 8 x Weekly Sessions at Cranebrook Neighbourhood Centre, 17 Hosking St Cranebrook, 10am – 1pm
* Delivered in-person by an accredited & experienced Child & Family Social Worker
* Light refreshments provided
* Child minding available on request

I am a qualified Social Worker (MSW) with 6 years experience working with children and families across Sydney. I am passionate about promoting children's rights to increase safety and well-being for children and young people. I am currently employed as Parenting Facilitator with Nepean Community & Neighbourhood Services. My position is funded by the Department of Communities and Justice to provide parenting education group programs and specialist support free to communities in Penrith and NSW. I have held previous roles as School Counsellor and Family Caseworker, among others.

Parent Effectiveness Training (P.E.T.) is now listed as one of the evidence-informed programs and supports on the School Readiness Funding Menu. This funding is being offered by the Victorian Department of Education & Training to provide additional support for kindergartens to help children get the most out of their early learning.
